Fireshot is an add-on for Firefox that takes screen capture with your browser window and allows for easy annotation. It is available on the Firefox Add-ons site here: http://addons.mozilla.org  Search for Fireshot and choose "Add to Firefox".  Don't have the Firefox browser?  Get it at http://getfirefox.com

Jing is a free program that you can use to create both screen captures and short videos. It is available for download at http://www.jingproject.com  Remember, when selecting your image or video area with the Jing tool to begin making your selection in the upper-left corner by dragging down and to your right.

Skitch is a free screen capture program for Macs only. It allows you to annotate your screen captures, as well as perform other image edits, such as cropping and re-sizing. Download Skitch (on a mac) at http://plasq.com/downloads/

Audacity is a free program for recording and making small edits to audio files. It can be downloaded at http://audacity.sourceforce.net
