I Love My Computer: Jean Bennett, Instructional Technologist and Diane Skorina, Reference Librarian, Ursinus College
Digital Natives love their computers and the trial and error method of finding, gathering, and disseminating their own new obtained knowledge.  According to Stephan Abram, “People who know how to find, collect, and disseminate good information will be invaluable in our society.”  Librarians can be a valuable part of this by recognizing that the library needs to be a community (as in social networking) of informing and assisting in the knowledge gain and betterment of life for their students.  Understanding how the digital natives are using technology will help to make a rich society.

Next Generation Catalog: The Library OPAC meets Web 2.0
Contemporary libraries need state-of-the-art software to make their collections and services visible and attractive to Web users accustomed to the one- stop-shopping aspects of Google and the customer-oriented features of commercial sites such as Amazon.  VuFind, an open-source resource discovery portal developed for libraries by libraries, has harnessed the power of contemporary Web search technology that enables users to query and browse the library’s resources in a simple yet sophisticated manner.

Andrew Nagy, Technology Specialist, Falvey Memorial Library, has been working professionally as a web-based software engineer since 1999.  Currently, he is enrolled in the Masters of Technology Management program at Villanova, where he will be graduating with two masters degrees in May, 2008. Chris Barr, Villanova University, Design Specialist, Falvey Memorial Library, Villanova University.
